RUM CAY, BAHAMAS

We last saw Rum Cay in 2000 as we headed south.  The pier and landscape had not changed.

One area had seen a good bit of development.  In 2000, there was a tiny marina and a French restaurant.  Now, there were two restaurants, the marina, and little cottages built for tourists.

A sculptor was in residence and used local material to produce many works such as the mermaid above.

The color of the water in the Bahamas is exquisite.  You can see the waves breaking on the reef in the middle of the picture.

GEORGETOWN, EXUMAS, BAHAMAS

From Rum Cay, we went to Georgetown.  The wind was strong and we got soaked each time we left the boat to go to land.

Leaving Georgetown, Bob caught a beautiful bull mahi-mahi.

NASSAU, BAHAMAS

The ship above is passing the lighthouse and entering the channel between Nassau and Paradise Island.

Many cruise ships visit Nassau.

We left Nassau and arrived back in the USA on May 21.  After checking in with Customs and Immigration and visiting with our friends Darrell and Julie White on Desdamona, we made a four-day passage to Beaufort, NC.
