The marina is relatively small with about fifty slips for both locals and transients.   Exercise is available at tennis and handball courts, a workout room with exercise machines, aerobic classes, and a nine-hole golf course.

During a medical convention at the resort, Bob met the husband and daughter of a doctor attending meetings.  He brought Marco and Jessica to the boat for a tour.   In the top right corner of the picture is the Caribbean Mall, just a few blocks from the front gate of the resort.  A number of restaurants are within walking distance.

The cruisers' central gathering place is the dock under the Tree of Knowledge, or the Gossip Tree as it is sometimes called.  "The tree" is actually a line of small trees so it accommodates almost any size crowd.  In the shade, it is an ideal place to work, visit, drink, and celebrate birthdays, holidays, or any excuse, including getting through another day.  Sunday nights alternate, one week appetizers and the next a potluck where the resort provides the grill, table, and chairs. 

Jim with his trawler Three Keys in the background is quite the handyman.  He designed and built steps for Pikasso, a local yachtsman.  Everyone gathered to toast the completed project.

Each Wednesday night, Maremares hosts a cocktail hour with free drinks and hors d'oeuvres.  People from other marinas and the petroleum industry show up along with cruisers and their friends.  The affair is set up at the swimming pool with music provided by large speakers.   Below, staff prepares for the onslaught of thirsty people.
