Every afternoon between 4:30 and 5:00 p.m., cruisers emerge from their boats, drink in hand, occasionally a snack, to gather at the end of the dock . Information is exchanged, gossip is repeated, and impressions are shared. Much is learned through the experience of others so there is a lot of chit-chat while watching for the green flash. On one of Bob's Sunday walks, he discovered model boat races at the local beach. The remote-controlled mini-cigarette boats about three feet long go amazingly fast across the water. Some are equipped with two-cycle model airplane motors, others with four-cycle chain saw motors. On land, the boats sit on stands so the propellers won't get damaged. |
